Four Mile Run Park Homicide Similar to Beverley Park Case? Report

NBC-4 reports that the manner of death of the homicide victim found at Four Mile Run Park was similar to that of man killed last month.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — Two deaths being investigated by Alexandria police could be linked. NBC-4 reports Tuesday night that the two young men, both in their 20s, were killed in a similar manner.

A local resident out dog-walking discovered the body of Jose Luis Ferman Perez, 24, of Alexandria on Monday morning, Nov. 9 at the popular Beverley Park playground. Several media reports noted that his throat had been slashed but police have not been specific.

On Friday, police were looking for a 22-year old who had been reported missing; they found the body of the missing man, Eduardo David Chandias Almendarez at Four Mile Run Park. NBC-4 reports Tuesday night he was killed in a manner similar to Perez. Almendarez was reported missing and was last seen Saturday, Nov. 28 near Four Mile Run Park; his body was found there Friday when Alexandria and Fairfax County police were searching the area for him.

At a meeting of the North Ridge Civic Association last month, Police Chief Earl Cook said he didn’t know if the Nov. 9 homicide was related to gang activity.

Police have scheduled a community meeting for Monday at 6:30 p.m. at the Cora Kelly Rec Center gymnasium to address community concerns.
