Look for October Opening for Wood-Fired Pizza Restaurant

A new pizza restaurant, Lena’s Wood-Fired Pizza & Tap, is set to open in October, according to a spokeswoman.

And the restaurant looks to be hiring a general manager (unless there’s another wood-fired pizza restaurant out there opening in October?):

Lena’s Wood-Fired Pizza restaurant will open at Yates Corner, across from the Braddock Road Metro station, at Mount Vernon Avenue and Braddock Road.

Beckmann Architects noted recently that construction started in July on the restaurant (the Alexandria architecture firm is also in charge of renovations at Shirlington Village’s Palette 22). There will be outdoor seating and an outdoor fire pit at Lena’s. The restaurant will feature 120 seats.

A Web site under construction recently showed off some of the pizza options that will likely be on the menu:

• SPICY SAUSAGE cherry peppers, caramelized onions, sundried tomato, fresh basil, mozzarella
• GRILLED PEPPERONI whole milk mozzarella, san marzano tomatoes
• FRESH GOAT CHEESE & OLIVE san marzano tomato sauce, basil, olive oil
• SUNNY SIDE UP bacon, smoked gouda, onions, peppers, potatoes, sunny side up quail eggs, maple syrup, truffle oil
• PROSCIUTTO & BASIL onion jam, whole milk mozzarella, roasted tomatoes
• MARINATED SHRIMP roasted red peppers, feta, basil
• MEATBALL fresh ricotta, mozzarella, san marzano tomato sauce
• FUNGHI roasted garlic cream, seasonal mushrooms, smoked gouda, porcini oil
• FRENCHIE brie, applewood smoked bacon, caramelized onions, arugula
• MARGHERITA whole milk mozzarella, parmesan, san marzano tomato sauce, basil

No word on whether Alexandria Restaurant Partners will also manage the Yates-owned restaurant coming to Duke Street across from Bishop Ireton High School.
