1 Resident Dead As Fire Destroys Mantua House
One person was taken to the hospital, and another was found dead during a Monday night house fire.

FAIRFAX, VA — A resident was found dead in a fire that destroyed a home Monday in Mantua, according to Fairfax County Fire and Rescue.
Units responded to a home in the 3500 block of Goodview Court. Firefighters found heavy fire upon arrival. One resident was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, and another was found dead after being unaccounted for. The deceased resident's body was taken to the medical examiner.
The house was a total loss, according to the fire department. Units had tackled the exterior due to heavy fire conditions, significant damage and "compromised structural integrity" of the home.

Fire investigators are on the scene. A structural assessment of the home is being done before investigators can conduct a search of the home and investigation into the fire's cause.
