Fairfax Man Buys Winning Virginia Lottery Ticket Worth $148K At City Grocery Store

A Fairfax man who was shopping for groceries in the city recently bought a winning Virginia Lottery ticket worth $148,000.

FAIRFAX CITY, VA — Yoon Hong of Fairfax won $148,043 from the Virginia Lottery on a ticket he purchased while shopping for groceries at city store.

Hong was at the Shoppers Food grocery store at 9622 Main St. on a recent Saturday, when he decided to purchase a ticket for the Print ‘n Play Rolling Jackpot game. The ticket turned out to be a winner.

"I was happy," Hong told lottery official about his initial reaction to having won.

As a Virginia-only, instant win game, the Print ‘n Play Rolling Jackpot has a starting jackpot of $50,000. Every time a ticket is sold, the jackpot increases until someone wins. Tickets can be purchased for $2, $5 and $10.

A winning $2 ticket can net the player 20 percent of the jackpot. With a $5 ticket, the winning player can get 50 percent of the jackpot and a winning $10 ticket earns the player the entire jackpot. The odds of winning the entire jackpot are 1 in 240,000.
