2 Women Sleeping At Gateway Regional Park Were Sexually Assaulted By Unknown Man
City of Fairfax Police are investigating two sexual assaults that occurred this month at Gateway Regional Park.

FAIRFAX CITY, VA — City of Fairfax Police are investigating two sexual assaults that occurred this month at a Gateway Regional Park, according to a police release.
Officers responded around 10:09 p.m. on Oct. 10 for the report of a sexual assault in the park, which is located at 2823 Pickett Road. A preliminary investigation revealed that a woman sleeping in the park was approached by a man, who tried to engage her in conversation.
The man then held the woman down and sexually assaulted her. The woman suffered non-life threatening injuries. The man rode away on a bicycle before police arrived.

Police described the suspect as an unshaven Hispanic man who weighed 175 pounds and was in his late 20s. He had short black hair and was wearing a blue short-sleeve shirt.
In the second incident, officers responded around 9:31 p.m. on Wednesday for the report of a sexual assault at Gateway Regional Park. The officers learned that the second female victim had been sleeping in the park, when an unknown man approached her. The man then held her down and sexually assaulted her. The woman suffered non-life threatening injuries and the suspect left the park on a bicycle.

Police described the suspect in the second sexual assault as a Hispanic man in his 20s. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a green or turquoise hoodie and blue jeans, according to police.
