2022 Chocolate Lovers Festival Canceled Due To Rise In COVID-19 Cases In Fairfax City
Fairfax City cancels its annual celebration of all things chocolate due to rise in COVID-19 cases.
FAIRFAX CITY, VA — The City of Fairfax has canceled the 2022 Chocolate Lovers Festival due to the recent spike in COVID-19 cases in the city.
The official Chocolate Lovers Festival website encouraged members of the public to purchase goods from the vendors who had planned to sell items at the festival. A full list of vendors is available on the Taste of Chocolate page.
Developed in 1992 as a joint effort by the Central Fairfax Chamber of Commerce, Downtown Fairfax Coalition, Downtown Fairfax Merchants Association and George Mason University, the Chocolate Lovers Festival is an annual event the draws people to Old Town Fairfax to share their love of chocolate.

Like the rest of Virginia, the City of Fairfax has seen a spike in COVID-19 cases in recent weeks. On Jan. 8, 47 new cases were reported in the city, which was the highest number of new cases recorded on a single day since 81 were reported on Nov. 18, according to Virginia Department of Health data. Daily numbers have declined since Jan. 8. On Tuesday, 13 new cases were reported in the city and the current 7-day average is 31 cases.
