FAIRFAX CITY, VA — A three-vehicle crash Thursday morning forced the temporary closure of the eastbound lanes of Main Street. Investigators determined the crash was by one driver failing to yield on a left turn, authorities say.
Units from the City of Fairfax Fire Department were dispatched around 7:20 a.m. to investigate the report of a crash at the intersection of Main Street and Fairview Drive/Orchard Drive.

When firefighters arrived on the scene, they found two SUVs and one sedan stopped at the intersection, each showing damage from the crash. One person involved in the crash was taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries, according to a City of Fairfax spokesman.
All eastbound lanes on Main Street were blocked, creating gridlock from Fairview Drive all the way back to Locust Street near the Fairfax City Museum and Visitor Center. Westbound traffic was unaffected by the crash.
