FAIRFAX, VA — Food for Others, the Merrifield-based nonprofit that helps feed food-insecure families, received a special gift Thursday from the company of builders and operators working on VDOT's 66 Express Outside the Beltway project.

66 Express Outside the Beltway donated an upright commercial refrigerator. The donation was part of the Manassas company's long-time partnership with the food bank located at 2938 Prosperity Ave. in Fairfax.

"Our friends at the 66 Express have really stepped up, and we appreciate their continued partnership," said Deb Haynes, executive director of Food For Others. "This new refrigerator is a high-impact gift that will benefit our clients for years to come."

I-66 EMP's partnership with Food for Others started back in November 2022, when company began working on the 66 Express Outside the Beltway project. That year, the company conducted a food drive that brought in nearly 600 pounds of fresh and non-perishable food just in time to help the nonprofit's customers celebrate Thanksgiving.
