Assault Charges Filed Against MD Man, DC Woman In Fairfax City: Police
City of Fairfax Police charged a Maryland man and a District woman with assault and battery in connection with two separate incidents.

FAIRFAX CITY, VA — Two people face assault and battery charges in connection with unrelated incidents that occurred over the last week in the City of Fairfax, according to the weekly crime report.
In the first case, Fairfax City police officers responded around 9:19 p.m., to the Buffalo Wild Wings restaurant located at 11204 James Swart Circle for the report of someone assaulting a coworker. Police reported that there were minor injuries.
Through their investigation, police learned that 31-year-old Michael Thomas of Bladensburg, Maryland had an out-of-state warrant. After taking him into custody, police transported Thomas to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center. Once there, police charged him with assault and battery. Thomas remains in custody as he awaits extradition on the outstanding warrant.

In the second case, officers responded around 10:53 p.m., on Saturday, to the 10500 block of Judicial Drive for a report of disorderly conduct. The person who contacted police said they witnessed a woman striking vehicles and another person with a tree branch.
During their investigation, police determined that the woman in question had been released from jail a couple of hours earlier. Police said the woman had assaulted three people and damaged four vehicles in the area.

The officers located 33-year-old Danaya Barrett of Washington, D.C., nearby and took her to the adult detention center, where she was charged with three counts of assault and battery and four counts of destruction of property. Barrett was held without bond, according to police.
