Assault On Police Charges Filed Against Annandale Man

Fairfax police officers say an Annandale man spit at and kicked them as they tried to put handcuffs on him Sunday night at a city business.

FAIRFAX CITY, VA — An Annandale man is facing multiple counts of assault on law enforcement officers in connection with a larceny incident at a city business, according to the daily crime report.

Officers responded around 9:40 p.m. on Sunday for the report of a larceny in progress at Star Tobacco, which is located at 3900 Pickett Road. The officers detained 21-year-old Kevin Lopez Altan of Annandale, whom police reported was involved in the larceny. Police say Altan tried to runaway as he was being handcuffed. During the struggle, police say Altan repeatedly kicked and spit at multiple officers.

Police charged Altan with petit larceny, obstruction of justice and four counts of assault on law enforcement officers. He is being held without bail.
