Beware Of New Phone Scam: Fairfax City Police

City of Fairfax Police warn the public of a phone scam in which the caller says he's a police officer with arrest warrants against them.

FAIRFAX CITY, VA — City of Fairfax Police are warning the public about a phone scam in which the caller identifies himself as a city police officer, according to a post on the department's official Twitter account. The scammer tells the person who answered the call that he has arrest warrants against them.

Police warned members of the public that if a government agency contacts them, they should call the agency's official phone number and not the number the caller provides them in order to confirm the veracity of the call.

In addition, police warn the public not to give financial information to any "officer" or agency over the telephone.
