Bridge Demolition And Lane Closures At Route 123 For Transform 66 Project In Fairfax City
Lane closures on I-66 East and West and Fairfax County Parkway North and South will be required nightly to safely accommodate this work.

Demolition continues during overnight hours next week on the ramp from I-66 West to Route 123 (Chain Bridge Road) South over I-66, and on portions of the I-66 bridges over Fairfax County Parkway (Route 286). Lane closures on I-66 East and West and Fairfax County Parkway North and South will be required nightly to safely accommodate this work.

Demolition Progress During Week of February 23:
- Demolition of the ramp from I-66 West to Route 123 South over I-66 began on Wednesday, Jan. 29. Demolition of the four bridge spans finished on Feb. 25, with removal of the two of the three old bridge piers along eastbound and westbound I-66 nearly complete.

- Demolition of the remaining piers for the Route 123 exit ramp bridge over I-66 East is planned for Friday night, Feb. 28, and from Sunday night, March 1, through Wednesday night, March 4 (if needed).
- Nighttime ramp demolition over I-66 at Route 123 will be complete when the remaining piers are removed, which is anticipated to occur in early March.
- Overnight lane closures for demolition will occur on I-66 East and West between Route 50 and Blake Lane with occasional 20-minute stoppages between midnight and 4 a.m. (5 a.m. on weekends).
