MERRIFIELD, VA — Fairfax County Police have identified the man who died after the car he was driving crashed into a traffic pole Monday morning in the Merrifield area, according to a police release.

The FCPD Crash Reconstruction Unit determined that Dashdavaa Zambalgarav, 49, of Centreville was traveling west on Arlington Boulevard around 4 a.m., when his 2008 Lexus RX drifted into the center median andstruct a traffic pole at Javier Road. Zambalgarav was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment, but he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.

Detectives are continuing to investigate, but they do not believe that alcohol or speed were factors in the crash.
