The home suffered about $30,000 in damage, according to Fairfax County Fire & Rescue. Five people were at home but no one was injured.

FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA — A house fire that apparently started in a chimney caused $30,000 damage to a home Monday night in the 5000 block of Huntwood Manor Drive, according to Fairfax County Fire & Rescue.

Two adults and three children were in the home but no injuries were reported.

Units responded shortly after 10 p.m. and saw smoke coming from the attic area of the three-story house, which had working fire alarms. After firefighters saw the fire may have spread to the basement and attic space, a second unit was called, and the fire was out in about a half hour.
