The Civil War Is Coming Back to Fairfax City
You can see re-enactors, other attractions at April 25 event.

You can experience American Civil War camp life and weapon-firing demonstrations during Fairfax Civil War Day, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, April 25, at the Historic Blenheim Estate, 3610 Old Lee Highway.
Fairfax Civil War Day activities will include demonstrations of cannon and rifle firing by Union and Confederate reenactors, youth “boot camps” for kids, wagon rides through soldier camps, author/vendor tents, blacksmithing, medicine and foodways demos, and period music.

Talks inside the award-winning Civil War Interpretive Center will cover women’s fashions, the role of the banjo in the Civil War, Old Capitol Prison and Lincoln assassination conspirator Mary Surratt.
Special guests will include Gen. and Mrs. Robert E. Lee, Col. John S. Mosby, Clara Barton, Gen. James Longstreet, reconnaissance balloonist Thaddeus Lowe, Chief Surgeon Rauh and the Black Horse Cavalry. Food will be provided by Red Hot & Blue and Historic Fairfax City Inc.

The cost is $5 for adults, $3 for kids ages 3-12 and free for children age 2 and younger. A free shuttle service is to be provided from Fairfax High School; there will be no parking at the event site.
