Electrical Fire Closes Bangkok St. Thai Restaurant In Fairfax
Bangkok St. Thai Restaurant was closed Thursday afternoon, after firefighters extinguished an electric meter box that had caught fire.

FAIRFAX CITY, VA — Fairfax County Fire & Rescue units extinguished a fire late Thursday morning at the Bangkok St. Thai Restaurant in Fairfax.
"We had opened our kitchen already," said Gun, who owns the restaurant located in the Pan Am Shopping Center. "Our kitchen is at the center of the restaurant, but the fire started at the exit at the back of our restaurant."
Gun was first alerted to something not being right when heard loud, sparking sounds coming from the back of the building. When he went to investigate, he saw sparks flying out of the restaurant's electric meter box.

Fire investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire and an estimate of the damage. No injuries were reported at this time, according to a fire department spokesman.
"We'd like to open as soon as possible," Gun said. "But talking to the electric company and the health department, it seems like it could take almost a month. We have to reinstall the electric system, clean up, and then call the health department to check it so we can start everything up."
Five employees work at the Bangkok St. Thai Restaurant, which has been open for 12 years.
