Fairfax City Fall Leaf Collection Continues Through December
Here's what you need to know about Fairfax City's 2019 curbside leaf collection.
FAIRFAX CITY, VA — The City of Fairfax kicked off its annual autumn curbside leaf collection Nov. 2, continuing through Dec. 27. Residents are asked to have all leaves raked to the curb by Dec. 20 to ensure collection.
During curbside collection, bagged leaves will not be picked up, according to the city. Other tips Fairfax City residents should keep in mind include:
- Give leaf piles a minimum 6-foot clearance from overhead obstructions, and avoid parking vehicles on leaf piles.
- Light yard debris (such as grass clippings and weeds) may be included in leaf piles.
- Keep stones, branches and other large items out of leaf piles because these items can injure workers and damage equipment.
The city is divided into six sections, and leaves are collected in rotation according to neighborhood about once every two weeks. Heavy leaf fall or inclement weather may affect leaf collection.
