FAIRFAX CITY, VA — Fairfax City Fire Department personnel extinguished a small fire Thursday morning at a townhouse community located just outside of the city's border in Fairfax County.

Units were dispatched around 10:21 a.m., for the report of a fire in the 9800 block of Owens Court. Firefighters found a small fire burning in a pile of mulch outside one of the townhomes. They quickly extinguished it. No injuries or damages were reported, according to a Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department spokesman William Delaney.

The city and county fire departments operate under a mutual aid agreement, Delaney said. When a dispatch goes out, the available units closest to the requesting address are sent. In this instance, city firefighters responded.
