Fairfax City Opens New School-Age Child Care And Virtual Learning Center

Fairfax City Parks and Recreation Department, Fairfax City Schools, and Fairfax City Schools Superintendent have created a new center to assist residents with childcare of school-age children.
The Fairfax City Connected Care Center will provide a safe, small-group setting for children grades K-6, who will have supervision and assistance during FCPS virtual learning.

The program will launch on September 8 — the first day of school — and will run from 7:30 a.m to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday with optional Monday add on day at the Green Acres Community Center. Registration applications open at 10 a.m. August 17.
To provide the safest and healthiest environment possible, the city will implement comprehensive cleaning practices:
- High-touch areas such classrooms, supplies and restrooms will be cleaned in between uses and constantly.
- Staff will conduct daily morning and afternoon through cleanings.
- Staff and participants both will conduct daily temperature and wellness checks upon entry to the building.
- Staff will required to wear a mask at all times.
- Children will be highly encouraged to wear masks at all times.
- Breakfast and Lunch provided by FCPS.
