Fairfax City Student Athletes, Teams Recognized By County Supervisors
Student athletes from the Fairfax City area were recognized for their championship-level efforts during the 2023-24 winter sports season.

FAIRFAX CITY, VA — Students from Fairfax City area high schools were recognized Tuesday morning for the athletic prowess they demonstrated during the 2023-24 winter sports season.
"These teams and athletes that are being recognized today represent months of hard work and dedication, not only to their area of play but also in the classroom as well," said Fernando Belli, Fairfax County Public Schools' afterschool programs administrator, during the ceremony. "They've represented their schools, communities and Fairfax County with class and dignity and displayed a tremendous amount of hard work to get here."
Fairfax County Board of Supervisors presented certificates to the following student-athletes from the Fairfax City area who earned state championships:

- Caden Smith, Robinson Secondary School, Wrestling, 113 pounds.
- Tristan Corbin, Robinson Secondary School, Wrestling, 132 pounds.
- Kross Cassidy, Fairfax High School, Wrestling, 157 pounds.
- Robinson Secondary School, Swim and Dive, Boys 200 Yard Medley Relay.
- Sadie Buckley, Fairfax High School, Swim and Dive, Girls 200 Yard Freestyle.
- JT Schmid, Robinson Secondary School. Swim and Dive, Boys 200 Yard Individual Medley.
- Nathaniel Grannis, Woodson High School, Swim and Dive, Boys 1 Meter Diving.
- Robinson Secondary School, Swim and Dive, Boys 200 Yard Freestyle Relay.
- JT Schmid, Robinson Secondary School, Swim and Dive, Boys 100 Yard Backstroke.
- Fairfax High School, Swim and Dive, Girls 400 Yard Freestyle Relay.
- Justin Anderson, Woodson High School, Indoor Track and Field, Boys 500 Meter Dash.
The Fairfax City area teams were state runners-up are:
- Robinson Secondary School, Boys Swimming and Diving.
- Robinson Secondary School, Girls Swimming and Diving.

- Harry Maltese, Fairfax High School, Wrestling, 215 pounds.
- Lilla Wilbur, Robinson Secondary School, Swim and Dive, Girls 200 Yard Individual Medley.
- Nathaniel Mitchell, Robinson Secondary School, Indoor Track and Field, Boys High Jump.
Earlier in the morning, the supervisors presented proclamations to the following teams that won state championships during the 2023-24 winter sports season.
- Langley High School's boys ice hockey and swim and dive teams
- South Lakes High School's girls indoor track and field and boys basketball teams
- Lake Braddock High School's gymnastics team
