Fairfax College Students Honored For Academic Achievements

FAIRFAX, VA — To shine a light on the academic achievements of college students from the Fairfax City area, Patch shares information provided by the students' families and Merit News.

The following students were named to the dean's list during the spring 2022 semester at Hollins University in Roanoke, Virginia:

• Regan Tate of Fairfax
• Jessica Willebeek-LeMair of Fairfax

To attain this distinction, students must earn at least a 3.5 average on a 4.0 grading scale.

The following local students graduated during Hollins University's 180th commencement ceremony on May 22:

• Caitlin Hirabayashi of Fairfax graduated Summa Cum laude with a BA in Film .
• Chloe Mahalek of Fairfax graduated Cum laude with a BA/BFA in Dance

Omicron Delta Kappa, the National Leadership Honor Society, welcomed 1,971 new initiates from 78 universities during April 2022. Among the new initiates were:

• Katherine Charbonneau of Fairfax - Roanoke College
• Jae Canetti of Fairfax - Wake Forest University

To be initiated into Omicron Delta Kappa, sophomore, junior and senior students must be in the top 35 percent of their class and demonstrate leadership experience in at least one of the society's five pillars, and embrace ODK's ideals.

The following students were named to the spring 2022 president's list at Shenandoah University Winchester, Virginia:

To be named to the president's list at SU, a student must complete at least 12 credit hours for the semester and earn at least a 3.90 GPA.

Earnest Williams was named to The University of Alabama president's list for spring semester 2022. To earn a spot on the president's list, a student must have an academic record of 4.0 (all A's).
