2nd Degree Murder Charge Filed In Fairfax Fatal Shooting: Police

Fairfax County Police arrested a suspect early Saturday morning in the fatal shooting of a 37-year-old Fairfax man.

FAIRFAX, VA — A 50-year-old man was arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of 37-year-old Mohammad Zekria of Fairfax on Friday night.

Fairfax County Police responded around 8:37 p.m., to the 10400 block of Viera Lane in an apartment complex located between I-66 and of the northern border of the City of Fairfax for the report of a possible domestic-related shooting.

A woman told officers that her husband, Waisuddin Quraishi of Fairfax, had shot someone. She also said she and her family had been threatened by Quraishi, whom she said might have a weapon, according to police.

During their investigation, police located Zekria inside a vehicle parked in in the 3300 block of Willow Crescent Drive. Zekria had multiple gunshot wounds to his upper torso and was pronounced dead at the scene. Both men were known to each other, according to police.

Virginia State Police troopers located Quraishi around 2:22 a.m. on Saturday, walking alongside I-495 and Braddock Road. He was taken to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, where he was charged with second-degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. He was then held without bond.
