Fourth Of July 2017: Parade, Fireworks In Fairfax City

FAIRFAX, VA — This is one of those classic Fourth of July celebrations. It includes a parade. It has live music. And, of course, it has fireworks.

UPDATE: It also has pretty good weather. The forecast calls for mostly sunny skies until a random thunderstorm here or there could pop up in the afternoon.

It's the 51st annual Independence Day gala. It begins at 10 a.m. It ends sometime after the sun sets, but not before the grand fireworks display.

The parade begins 10 a.m. at 4100 Chain Bridge Road, rain or shine. It'll loop around downtown Fairfax along Chain Bridge Road, Main Street, University Drive and Armstrong Street.

Included in this year's parade are eight high school marching bands, giant balloons, horses and clowns.

After that, the celebration moves to Fairfax High School, at 3501 Rebel Run, for evening events beginning at 7. There will be music and dancing, as well as entertainment on a stage. This portion is centered at the school's football field. Following that comes the fireworks display, with a rain date July 5.
