Garage Fire Damages Oakton Home
Blaze destroys two vehicles; no injuries reported, says Fairfax County fire department.

A fire that broke out in the garage of an Oakton house on Thursday afternoon caused about $125,000 in damage, according to the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department.
The fire displaced two people, but there were no injuries, the fire department said. The blaze also destroyed two vehicles parked in the garage.

Fire and rescue units responded at about 4:45 p.m. Thursday to the fire in the single-family home at 3274 Pony Ridge Way. They encountered smoke and flames coming from the attached two-car garage of the two-story house, the fire department said.

Smoke alarms went off, allowing both occupants of the house to escape unharmed. Firefighters brought the fire under control in about 15 minutes.
Fire investigators reported that the blaze was accidental, the fire department said. It started in the engine compartment of one of the vehicles parked in the garage.
