Sunlight and Makeup Mirror Cause House Fire
One injured in Wednesday blaze at Fairview home: Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department.

A makeup mirror is being blamed for starting a fire that damaged a house on Wednesday in the Fairview area of Fairfax County.
The morning sunlight that was reflected by the makeup mirror ignited nearby combustible materials and caused the accidental fire, according to the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department.

One of the single-family home’s occupants was treated for a non-life threatening injury, the fire department said. The blaze caused an estimated $1,250 in damage to the house.

Firefighters responded at about 9:15 a.m. to the fire at the home at 5469 Ladues End Lane, just west of the Fairfax County Parkway, the fire department said.
Upon arrival, they saw smoke coming from the two-story house. They quickly extinguished the blaze in the master bedroom.
Both occupants were alerted by smoke alarms and escaped, the fire department said. They were able to reoccupy the home following the restoration of utilities.
