George Washington Exhibition Comes To Fairfax Museum
A traveling exhibition on the life of George Washington will be on display at the Fairfax Museum and Visitor Center starting Feb. 14.
FAIRFAX CITY, VA — A traveling exhibition on the life of George Washington will be on display at the Fairfax Museum and Visitor Center in Fairfax City starting Friday, Feb. 14 to coincide with the 288th birthday of the nation's first president. The free exhibit, which will run through March 15, examines the man behind the myth through graphics of photographs, paintings and iconic objects from the Mt. Vernon collection.
The exhibition uses interpretive and educational materials to help visitors better understand the life of Washington. Produced by George Washington's home, Mount Vernon, in conjunction with the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History, the exhibition presents the many different facets of Washington's leadership.
The 2020 President's Day federal holiday honoring Washington, who was born on Feb. 22, 1732, falls on Monday, Feb. 17.
