GMU's Patriot Center To Get New Name: Media Report

It's part of a deal announced Thursday between the university and a Maryland bank.

The Patriot Center, the 10,000-seat arena on the Fairfax campus of George Mason University, will get a new name on July 1: EagleBank Arena.

The university announced Thursday that it has sold the center’s naming rights to EagleBank, based in Bethesda, Md., for $6.6 million over the next decade, according to WRC-TV NBC Channel 4. The arena is home to GMU’s men’s and women’s basketball teams and hosts concerts, circuses and other events.

EagleBank will launch an internship and apprentice program at GMU and sponsor business leadership development programs at the school, Channel 4 reported.
