Help Shape Old Lee Highway's Future at Public Meeting
Event on March 19 part of $60,000 planning grant for redesigned multimodal route.

City planners are looking for the public’s input in shaping the future of the Old Lee Highway corridor.
A public outreach meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. March 19 for the Old Lee Highway “Great Street” Conceptual Plan. The event will be held at the Sherwood Community Center, 3740 Old Lee Highway.
The city was awarded $60,000 in technical assistance through the Metropolitan Washington Council of Government’s Transportation/Land-Use Connections Program to develop a conceptual plan for a redesigned multimodal Old Lee Highway.

According to the project website, the plan will incorporate elements from the 2005 Old Lee Highway Transportation Study and the City’s 2012 Comprehensive Plan and will then be used to develop detailed engineering drawings for construction should City Council choose to proceed.
At the beginning of the process, organizers are anxious to hear from community members that use the route and want to share their thoughts on its future.
