Firefighters Dressed As Superheroes Encourage Children At Fairfax Hospital To Persevere
Fairfax County firefighters wearing superhero costumes rappelled down Inova Children's Hospital to encourage young patients to persevere.
FALLS CHURCH, VA — A group of Fairfax County firefighters dressed as superheroes on Tuesday and rappelled down the outside of Inova L.J. Murphy Children's Hospital, according to a post on the fire and rescue department's official Twitter account.
The effort by the four firefighters dressed as Supergirl, Captain America, Spider-Man and Superman was meant to encourage the young patients receiving treatment at the hospital, which is located in the Falls Church section of the county.
As a way to further explain the firefighters' actions on Tuesday, the tweet included a quote from Superman: “I think a hero is an ordinary individual who finds strength to persevere and endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles."
