High-Speed Chase, Crash Of Stolen Vehicle Lead To Arrest Of DC Man

Arlington County Police arrested a suspect on Wednesday wanted in Washington, D.C. as part of a felony investigation, according to reports.

ARLINGTON, VA— High-speed chase on I-395 in the crash of a stolen vehicle, leading to the arrest of suspect in a DC felony investigation, according to Arlington County Police.

Around 12:17 p.m., the Metropolitan Police Department alerted ACPD that a suspect connected to a felony investigation in Washington, D.C. had just entered Arlington County. An officer located the vehicle the suspect was driving at a high rate of speed on I-395, according to police.

Following a brief pursuit, the suspect vehicle exited I-395 and crashed at the W. Braddock Road and N. Van Dorn Street, according to ACPD’s report. The suspect tried to flee on foot but was taken into custody. A preliminary investigation revealed that the vehicle that crashed had been reported stolen earlier.

Police arrested and charged 33-year-old Antonio Smith of Washington, D.C. with unauthorized use of a vehicle, receiving stolen goods, eluding and no driver’s license, according to police.
