Laser Light Shined at Officers in Fairfax: Police

Not knowing the source, the officers briefly took cover before seeing the suspect on a nearby balcony, according to Fairfax County Police.

FAIRFAX, VA — A Centreville man who shined a laser at two officers early Tuesday morning at the 12200 block of Walter Elm Lane was detained following a brief search, according to Fairfax County Police.

Johnny A. Tela, 24, was issued a summons for pointing a laser at a law enforcement officer.

Shortly after 2 a.m., police responded to a report of concern that a garage door was partially open. As they waited outside to speak with someone, one of the officers noticed a red laser pointed directly at them.

Not knowing the source or purpose of the light, both officers took cover but soon saw the suspect on a nearby apartment balcony in the 4400 block of Milroy Way.
