Memorial Service For Fairfax Police Officer To Be Held Jan. 11

Sergeant George Moskowitz, who was 57 years old, died New Year's Eve from a medical emergency​ while on duty.

FAIRFAX CITY, VA — A memorial service will be held for George Moskowitz, a sergeant with the Fairfax City Police Department who died New Year's Eve, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 11, at Fairfax Presbyterian Church. Moskowitz, who was 57, died from a medical emergency while on duty.

Before joining the Fairfax City Police Department eight years ago, Moskowitz spent 25 years with the Fairfax County Police Department. "The outpouring of support and condolences has been amazing and comforting," the police department said Thursday in a statement.

According to the Fairfax City Police Department, there will be no graveside service for Moskowitz. All are welcome to attend the service at Fairfax Presbytarian Church at 10723 Main St. in Fairfax, the department said.
