New Apartments, Redeveloped Fairfax Circle Gets Approval

Planned redevelopment at Fairfax Circle Plaza received key approval this week from the City of Fairfax.

The project would redevelop the retail center, replacing it with a mixed-use development containing up to 400 new apartments and 88,000 square feet of retail, including a grocery store, according to a release from developers Combined Properties.

The 8.9-acre site is located in the intersection of Fairfax Boulevard and Lee Highway.

"The development itself is divided into city blocks and defines a progression of pedestrian experiences ranging from public plaza spaces and promenades to private residential courtyards," said Ben Kasdan, senior designer for architects KTGY Group.
