NoVA's Coronavirus Test Positivity Rate Drops Below 4 Percent
Virginia's northern and eastern regions reported a positive test average at 3.9 percent as of Oct. 10, according to health officials.
VIRGINIA — The Virginia Department of Health reported 805 new coronavirus cases across the state Wednesday, bringing the cumulative total to 161,610 cases. Health officials also reported nine new deaths statewide, increasing the total number of people who have died from COVID-19 to 3,381.
Wednesday's 805 new cases included 233 in the southwest region, 184 in the eastern region, 154 in the northern region, 122 in the northwest region, and 112 in the central region.
The positive average of PCR tests stands at 4.6 percent statewide. On a regional basis, the eastern and northern regions reported a positive average of PCR tests at 3.9 percent as of Oct. 10. Other regional averages include 4.1 percent in the northwest region, 4.7 percent in the central region and 6.9 percent in the southwest region.

Statewide, 2,304,369 PCR tests have been completed, an 11,807 increase from Tuesday. To find testing locations and testing events, visit the VDH website.
As of Wednesday, the number of COVID-19 hospitalizations stands at 1,007 statewide. That includes 102 patients on ventilators and 230 in the intensive care units, according to the Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association.

Ventilator use among all Virginia hospital patients is at 23 percent of capacity as of Wednesday, while ICU occupancy stands at 79 percent. That's 10 percent higher than the 2019 average for ICU occupancy in Virginia. No hospitals are reporting difficulty obtaining personal protective equipment or other medical supplies in the next 72 hours.
According to the association, 18,747 COVID-19 patients have been discharged from hospitals to date.

- Alexandria: 4,057 cases, 323 hospitalizations, 73 deaths; increase of 12 cases
- Arlington County: 4,250 cases, 518 hospitalizations, 152 deaths; increase of 22 cases and five hospitalizations
- Fairfax County: 22,275 cases, 2,198 hospitalizations, 599 deaths; increase of 90 cases and one hospitalization
- Fairfax City: 145 cases, 13 hospitalizations, eight deaths; increase of one case
- Falls Church: 75 cases, 13 hospitalizations, seven deaths; no changes
- Loudoun County: 7,301 cases, 452 hospitalizations, 128 deaths; decrease of two cases, increase of one hospitalization
- Manassas: 1,998 cases, 131 hospitalizations, 25 deaths; decrease of one hospitalization
- Manassas Park: 628 cases, 56 hospitalizations, eight deaths; increase of one case
- Prince William County: 13,311 cases, 952 hospitalizations, 216 deaths; increase of 30 cases and one hospitalization
- Fredericksburg: 571 cases, 50 hospitalizations, five deaths; increase of three cases
- Spotsylvania County: 2,282 cases, 140 hospitalizations, 46 deaths; increase of four cases
- Stafford County: 2,187 cases, 167 hospitalizations, 19 deaths; increase of 13 cases and one hospitalization
