Pan Am Redevelopment Put On Hold By Federal Realty: Report
Federal Realty Investment Trust has deferred its plans indefinitely to redevelop the Pan Am Shopping Center, according to news reports.

FAIRFAX, VA — Bethesda-based developer Federal Realty Investment Trust deferred indefinitely plans to redevelop the Pan Am Shopping Center in Fairfax, according to news reports.
Federal Realty filed plans with Fairfax County to redevelop the the shopping center located at the corner of Nutley Street and Route 29 near the Vienna/Fairfax-GMU Metro Station. The plan was to add 550 multifamily units and townhomes to the center, according to the Washington Business Journal.
A Federal Realty spokesperson told WBJ reporter Dan Brendel that the project “could take several years to bring to fruition.”

"Federal Realty continually explores opportunities across its portfolio to enhance the consumer experience and evolve its properties for the market that it serves," the company said in a statement reported by WBJ. "As part of this exploration, design concept plans will be created from time to time and priced as part of the company’s due diligence and project evaluation."
