Pavement Work On Chain Bridge Road, Fairfax City, Continues Through Oct. 23

UPDATE 10/16: Work has been suspended due to wet weather and cool temperatures. The city’s contractor is scheduled to resume work on the evening of Tuesday, October 20, and work is expected to continue through Friday evening.

Starting Monday, October 12, southbound Chain Bridge Road between North and Armstrong Streets in the City of Fairfax will be milled and paved. The work will occur during the overnight hours.

Southbound Chain Bridge Road will be closed to traffic from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., Sunday through Friday. Two-way traffic will be maintained in the northbound lanes. To avoid the work zone, drivers may use University Drive as an alternate north-south route through Old Town Fairfax.

Traffic detection equipment at signalized intersections will be installed after paving and pavement markings are complete. Paving is weather and temperature dependent and may be rescheduled if necessary. Work is anticipated to take about a week to complete.
