Southbound Chain Bridge Rd will be closed to traffic from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., Sunday through Friday. Two-way traffic will be maintained in the northbound lanes. To avoid the work zone, drivers may use University Drive as an alternate north-south route through Old Town Fairfax.
Traffic detection equipment at signalized intersections will be installed after paving and pavement markings are complete. Paving is weather and temperature dependent and may be rescheduled if necessary. Work is anticipated to take about a week to complete.
