Police Charge Man in Fairfax Area Sex Assault, Burglary

Springfield man, 44, reportedly broke into home Wednesday morning, police said.

Detectives charged a 44-year-old Springfield man with two counts of attempted rape, burglary with intent to defile robbery, and animate object penetration on Friday. Choon Poong Lee was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.

Police responded to a report of a burglary and sexual assault on Wednesday, Sept. 23 around 11:30 a.m. in the 2900 block of Covington Square Way (see Google map below), according to police. A suspect reportedly broke into the home, sexually assaulted the resident, stole several items and fled, police said. The resident called police and sought medical attention, according to FCPD.

Initially, the victim was unclear of the perpetrator’s identity, but detectives were able to develop information based on leads and interviews that indicated the victim had some familiarity with the suspect, police said.

Once the suspect was identified, police were able to connect evidence with the crime and the suspect was charged, police said.
