Property Tax Delinquents Sought by Police in Fairfax
Fairfax began rigorous enforcement this week, and police are looking to see whether your vehicle has an up-to-date decal.

FAIRFAX, VA — If you haven't yet paid those pesky personal property taxes and received a new city decal for your trouble, more trouble may be on the way.
Fairfax Police said Wednesday they're cracking down on drivers with expired decals.
In other words, enforcement is a mandate — as are tickets.

The deadline was Oct. 5, and decals were mailed Oct. 19.
The 2016 personal property tax rate is $4.13 per $100 of assessed value. The state will pay 44 percent of the tax for the first $20,000 of a personal use vehicle assessed value. The tax reduction appears on tax bills as a credit. Both the personal property and the motor vehicle license tax must be paid to receive the city decal (shown above).
