Silver Spring Man Charged In Fatal Shooting Of Fairfax Man In DC

WASHINGTON, DC — Homicide detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department arrested a suspect in the fatal shooting of 29-year-old Christian Gabriel Monje of Fairfax last May in Washington, D.C., according to a police release.

Around 4:30 a.m., on May 30, MPD officers responded to the 1700 block of Rhode Island Avenue, Northwest for the report of the sound of gunshots. Once there, police found Monje suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

Rescue personnel transported him to a nearby hospital to be treated for life-threatening injuries, according to the release. Monje succumbed to his injuries on June 16 and was pronounced dead.

Acting on a D.C. Superior Court arrest warrant, police arrested 28-year-old James Carl Jackson of Silver Spring, Maryland. Police charged him with first degree murder while armed – felony murder.
