FAIRFAX CITY, VA — Around 6:30 p.m., City of Fairfax Police reported that the threat to city residents was over.

Police posted an alert at 5:24 p.m. Monday that the department had deployed tactical officers to assist county police with an investigation in the woods behind 10140 Fairfax Blvd.

The public was asked to avoid the area, but as of 6:30 p.m., there was no longer a threat to city residents, according to a police alert.
