Thanksgiving 2020: What's Open, Closed In Fairfax City

FAIRFAX CITY, VA — Thursday is Thanksgiving Day and a federal holiday, which means government offices, schools and some businesses will take a break in its observance.

Here are the openings and closings to know on and around Thursday, Nov. 26 and Friday, Nov. 27 in Fairfax City:

Fairfax City Offices: City government offices will closed Nov. 26-27.

Fairfax Schools: Schools will be closed Nov. 25-27.

Post office and mail: Post offices will be closed Nov. 26, and no mail will be delivered. Normal services resume on Friday.

Local and state courts: Fairfax County Circuit Court, General District Court and Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court will closed at 12 p.m. Nov. 25 and remain closed through Nov. 27.

CUE Bus: Buses will not run on Thanksgiving. Service on Friday will run on a modified weekday schedule.

Metro: On Thursday, local routes will operate on a Sunday schedule. Park & Ride routes will not operate. MetroRail and MetroRapid will operate on a Sunday schedule. Local MetroBus routes will operate on a Sunday schedule.

Historic Sites and Museums: The Fairfax Museum and Visitor Center will be closed Thanksgiving Day.

Libraries: The City of Fairfax Regional Library will be closed Nov. 26-27.

Trash Collection: City trash pickup will not run on Thursday, Nov. 26. Thursday and Friday routes will be picked up on Friday. Other municipal and private haulers may work on a different schedule.

Landfills/Recycling: The Property Yard Recycling Center, I-66 Transfer Station and I-95 Landfill will be closed Thanksgiving Day. All facilities will reopen Friday.
