Thieves Target Fairfax Car Dealerships In String Of Burglaries

FAIRFAX, VA — Thieves have targeted multiple car dealerships in Fairfax and other Northern Virginia communities in the past month, stealing several cars in a wave of recent burglaries, according to police.

In a statement released this week, Fairfax police said they are collaborating with other agencies to investigate the burglaries at car dealerships throughout the region. According to police, the wave of thefts began July 21.

Police said that in Fairfax City, at least eight cars were reported stolen. According to police, the suspects targeted Dodge and Chevrolet vehicles in seven of the eight thefts.

Police said the thefts were accomplished in several ways, including keys being stolen from the dealership and cars being driven off showroom floors. The thefts in Fairfax happened between Thursday nights and Monday mornings, police said.
