Traffic Alert: City Adds New Red Light Camera

It's the fourth location where traffic will be monitored, say Fairfax City police.

The Fairfax City Police Department is advising motorists that an additional photo red light enforcement camera has been installed. It is monitoring eastbound Fairfax Boulevard (Route 29/50) at Plantation Parkway.

A 30-day warning period began Tuesday. Enforcement will start on July 27, the police department said.

Since July 2011, the city has conducted photo red light enforcement at the intersections of University Drive and North Street, Main Street and Pickett Road, and at Fairfax Circle. Traffic signs indicating that photo red light has been adopted as a safety measure are placed next to the affected intersections, and the signs are being installed at the new location.

Information pertaining to the photo red light program can be found on the city website here, as well as CityScene and City Channel 12.
