'Transit Driver Appreciation Day' Friday in Fairfax

Although the official national day is Saturday, the city is beginning Friday with a shout-out to its 34 CUE bus drivers. Smiles are urged.

FAIRFAX, VA — Those folks who drive the buses that take you from Point A to Point B and Points Beyond every day will have a day of their own Friday — and Saturday, if we're being accurate.

Fairifax is celebrating the national Transit Driver Appreciation Day both Friday and Saturday, the latter being the official day.

The city points out that two City-University Enegerysaver (CUE) bus drivers, Lisa DePuy and Steve Shillingburg, have been on the job for more than 25 years.

From the city:

"On Transit Driver Appreciation Day, make sure your CUE Bus drivers know how valued they are. Something as easy as a smile and a wave when boarding makes a difference — or send a shout-out on Twitter at @CityofFairfaxCUE #tdad."
