Two Bodies Found in House Fire, Police Investigating

Firefighters working at the scene came across the bodies as they fought the fire, according to Fairfax County Police.

FAIRFAX CITY, VA — Two bodies were found as firefighters worked the scene of a house fire Wednesday morning, according to a Fairfax County Police.

The names of the individuals found have not been released.

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue personnel received a call around 11 a.m. about a fire at 12107 Fairfax Hunt Road, where they found flames on both the first and second floors of the home.

It took firefighters about 40 minutes to extinguish the fire, after which they entered the home and found two dead occupants

"As a result of the initial investigation, homicide detectives from the Major Crimes Division along with detectives from the Crime Scene Section, assumed primary investigative responsibility," according to a police release.

Battalion chief Willie Bailey told the Washington Post investigators were still trying to determine the cause of the fire, and said it could take 24 to 48 hours for the investigation and to release the names of the deceased.
