VA Coronavirus Cases Exceed 25,000; Hospitalizations Decline
Six of the 11 new deaths reported over the past 24 hours in Virginia occurred in Prince William County and the City of Manassas.
VIRGINIA — The number of people in Virginia who have tested positive for the coronavirus exceeded 25,000 Monday, according to the Virginia Department of Health. The number of deaths from COVID-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus, now stands at 850, an increase of 11 from Sunday.
Six of the 11 new deaths reported over the past 24 hours occurred in Prince William County and the City of Manassas. Four new deaths were reported in Fairfax County.
The cumulative number of hospitalizations from the coronavirus reached 3,300 Monday, up from 3,211 reported on Sunday.

As of Monday, 25,070 people in Virginia tested positive for coronavirus, an increase of 989 positive cases since Sunday, according to the Virginia Department of Health. Across the state, 167,758 coronavirus tests have been conducted.
The number of currently hospitalized patients with confirmed or pending coronavirus test results totaled 1,504 on Monday, a drop of 51 people from Sunday, according to the Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association. Since Friday, the number of people hospitalized in Virginia with confirmed or pending coronavirus test results has fallen by 121 people.

There have been 3,273 COVID-19 patients discharged from hospitals during the crisis as of Monday, an increase of 72 patients since Sunday.
On Monday, 194 COVID-19 patients were using ventilators, up slightly from the 187 patients using ventilators on Sunday. Among all hospital patients in Virginia, there are 602 ventilators in use of the 2,885 available ventilators in hospitals, representing 21-percent use in Virginia.

No Virginia hospitals are reporting difficulty obtaining or replenishing personal protective equipment or other medical supplies.
Across Virginia, 271 outbreaks of the coronavirus have been reported, with 160 of them occurring at long-term care facilities and 21 at prisons. At long-term care facilities, there have been 503 reported deaths from the coronavirus. Virginia's prison system is reporting two deaths.
Richmond County in Virginia's Northern Neck continues to have the most positive cases per capita. As of Monday, Richmond County had 2,102 cases per 100,000 population.
Accomack County on Virginia's Eastern Shore, home to poultry processing plants, has the second most in the state, with 1,617 cases per 100,000 population. The Eastern Shore Health District has reported eight outbreaks of the coronavirus. By comparison, Arlington County, which has six times the population of Virginia's Eastern Shore, has 589 cases of the coronavirus per 100,000 population and 12 outbreaks.
