FAIRFAX CITY, VA — City of Fairfax Police will be raising money next week for charity during the grand opening celebration of the new Wawa grocery and fuel station on Fairfax Boulevard.

City police are inviting members of the public to cover an entire cruiser with donations from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m, on Thursday, Sept 1. All proceeds will benefit Special Olympics Virginia. Officers will also be squaring off against members of the George Mason University Police Department in a hoagie-making competition as part of the festivities.

Members of the Fairfax City Council will also be on hand Thursday for the 9 a.m. ribbon-cutting ceremony for Wawa (Store #8671), which will be the company's 100th store in Virginia.
