Weather Alert: Storms Bringing Lightning, Hail

National Weather Service issues severe thunderstorm warning.

If you are planning to venture outside this afternoon, forget about it!

The National Weather Service (NWS) is warning that a line of thunderstorms is moving through Fairfax and Prince william counties, with winds of up to 30 miles per hour and dime-sized hail. The weather service issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Prince William and Fauquier counties until 4:45 p.m.

The weather service warns that frequent lightning is occurring with this storm. Lightning can strike 15 miles away in a storm, so seek a safe shelter inside a vehicle or building. For more information from the NWS, click here.
