Falls Church Election Results 2019: Council Members Reelected
Live 2019 election results: Voters chose winners in City Council, School Board and state legislative races.

FALLS CHURCH, VA — Incumbent Falls Church City Council members are projected winners in the Tuesday, Nov. general election, according to unofficial results from the city. One incumbent School Board member and two newcomers are projected winners in their races. Polls closed at 7 p.m.
According to unofficial vote tallies, Councilmember Letty Hardi won 3,425 votes, current Mayor David Tarter got 3,335 votes and Councilmember Phil Duncan won 2,768 votes. Council members are elected for four-year terms. When a new council is elected, members choose the mayor and vice mayor for two-year terms.
In the School Board election, newcomers Laura Downs and Susan Dimock won 3,380 and 3,224 votes, respectively. Incumbent Phil Reitinger recieved 2,590 votes. The school board election involved three seats on the seven-member school board. Members serve four-year terms.

Candidates in the state legislative and local prosecutor elections were unopposed. Falls Church's state senator, Minority Leader Dick Saslaw, won reelection in the 35th Senate District, and State Del. Marcus Simon was reelected in the 53rd House District. Parisa Dehghani-Tafti won her uncontested Arlington/Falls Church Commonwealth's Attorney race after a primary victory over current prosecutor Theo Stamos.

According to an unofficial total from Falls Church registrar Dave Bjerke, the city had a 44.9 percent turnout. That includes absentee ballots.
